7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in progression from it to the full product?
The difference between the preliminary task and the main thing is big I do underestimate it very slightly you had to make sure that every little flaw and error was corrected to ensure the near professional look we were aiming for. I feel that the main thing for me was learning to work with a new group of people admittedly when I started I really didn’t know them very well and was pretty nervous about working so closely with them. The preliminary task helped me develop my skills with the camera and made me understand about different shots and how to use then, then the main product allowed me to use all of that be in a very professional way.
During the process of producing the new product I learned a lot about the apple software and how to edit correctly on it, my previous experience meant that I was very amateur with all of this but due to the amount of editing that had to be done we each had our own big chunk to do and many nights after school were spent editing our film opening. I have managed to learn a number of new professional terms, names and meanings towards my work we were pretty lucky in our group to have a parent with professional experience so I learned a lot from him just by talking to him which was a real bonus. My level of confidence has improved a lot when I was producing the prelim task I was very nervous and acted poorly but during the real product I was the main character and was confident and very relaxed.

6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During the creation of pokers advocate I have learned a lot mainly in the areas of the apple software due to previous experience I was already fairly knowledgeable with the equipment but due to being a complete windows guy I was very amateur with the apple software so this project has helped me learn a lot more about how to use the software and the sort of things you can create with it. I have also learned new shot techniques and professional terms for items I would have called standard names so it has made me more professional about my media work. For example double checking everything and instead of leaving things like they are because you like them try to experiment with alternative things such as effects etc.
I have also learned a lot about team work and working as part of a team as the people I was working with I didn’t know very well so it was good to get to know then better and work closely with then and we got on very well I think, as the was no arguments everyone had their own fair share of jobs and responsibilities. I was very amateur about using the equipment and I do feel that during the process of creating the product I have built up the confidence to use the camera and all other equipment professionally and safely.
I have also learned allot about acting and the way to do it professionally granted the is allot of outtakes (as with most filsm!) but it was pretty exciting for me to play the main character of this, and i feel it both helped me build up my confidence but also strenghten the relationship with my fellow peers.

5) How did you attract/ address your audience?
During the creation of pokers advocate we did a lot of very clever editing techniques and decisions to attract our target audience and because I was in charge of a lot of this I know how much time we actually spent in making these changes to ensure a near professional standard. A really big one that took a lot of time was the cuts and transitions between the different shots as the was so many decisions to make towards this mainly speed and type of cut (you under estimate those).Another editing technique we used was effects on our shots to create atmosphere and in some cases tension a great example of when we did this was during the devil scene for when the devil came in we changed the shot to be dark and slowed it down this created a mysterious tense moment for the viewer and that’s exactly what our target audience love as with the type of film.
Another great editing technique we used was via sound effects and music we have managed to get hold of some professional well known songs to go as the background music and then we have in places/ where relevant stuck in some sound effects examples of these effects would be during the angle and devil scene. I think this technique works very well and I know as I have edited most of it, it took a lot of time to get everything in perfect line and on que.
In the opening sequence we attracted our target audience via the titles they were focused on the solid poker terminlogy/ effects that give the viwer a sense of "this poker game/film is serious" and i feel this worked very well.

4) Who would be the audience for your product?
The target audience of our product would be both male and females from the age of 20+ who are into action/ logic based films maybe with a little bit of comedy as well. Demographically the target audience would be English probably from a higher class/ working environment that enjoys logical films and card games.
Even though this is aimed at higher working class type of person I do feel that the price would be slightly lower than a normal film as it’s still an amateur production so we would have to take this into account. The target audience for our product would be the type of person that would be very critical towards our product and offer feedback and evaluation on it I think they would also be a tiny bit biased towards professional productions over amateur like ours.
I think that our film opening would be screened specifically by two social groups rich and educational sector these would be either at home on TV or in classrooms/ lecture theaters.

3) What Kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My research shows that the sort of film companies our film would be aiming for would be production companies that have done similar card themed action films such as 21 and casino royale, this would be ideal for our product as the target market of person/ target audience is already there and relevant. The same company that distributes 21 would be the perfect company as this is an entire film that’s based around a card game in high stakes and professional standards so I’m certain that the target audience of that company would be perfect for our product.
I do feel that our product has the potential to do well so if it were to be promoted/ distributed by these production companies the price would have to be fairly low as it would be classed as an amateur production not a full blown professional product.
To be specific i would say that Columbia Pictures might distribute our product as they distributed the film ‘21’ which had a heavy influence on our film opening and has a great target audience aimed at card games in specific poker.
I would also say that any independant/ amateur film companys/ festivals may like to get hold of our film opening as that is the right audience and would be geniune people that look for talent in younger film producers.
